Training may include personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, money management, community safety, communication, self-advocacy, social skills, employment readiness, volunteer opportunities, and decision-making. Money Management
Heritage House of Virginia, Inc. provides administrative support to help individuals, families, guardians, and authorized representatives manage financial and benefit-related needs. Services include assistance with Social Security, Medicaid eligibility and renewals, banking, financial recordkeeping, wage reporting, tax documentation, and insurance coordination. Through person-centered practices, we help individuals access the resources they need while promoting informed decision-making, financial accountability, and independence—all while protecting privacy, dignity, and individual rights.
Health and Wellness
At Heritage House of Virginia, Inc., we believe that good health is the foundation for independence, community participation, and a meaningful life. Our person-centered approach ensures each individual receives the healthcare coordination and wellness support they need to achieve their personal goals.
A hallmark of our services is our dedicated Medical Care Liaison (MCL) Team, which coordinates healthcare for individuals receiving residential services. The MCL Team partners with individuals, families, guardians, healthcare providers, and support staff to ensure seamless communication, continuity of care, and timely access to medical services.
Medical Care Liaisons assist with scheduling and coordinating appointments, accompany individuals to appointments when needed, advocate for effective communication and informed decision-making, and ensure follow-up care, physician recommendations, and medication changes are implemented. The team also coordinates preventive care, specialty services, behavioral health supports, and medication management to promote the best possible health outcomes.
Beyond medical care, Heritage House supports overall wellness through nutritious meals, opportunities for physical activity, community engagement, and healthy lifestyle choices. We also develop individualized Risk Management Plans that balance health and safety with personal choice, dignity, and independence.
Through comprehensive healthcare coordination and compassionate support, Heritage House helps individuals live healthier, more independent lives while fully participating in their communities.In addition to MCL services, Heritage House provides all residents with home-prepared nutritious meals and snacks. Heritage House also assesses each individual on an annual basis to create and maintain a Risk Management Plan to ensure they are receiving all necessary supports.

We offer 24-hour support tailored to each individual’s needs, promoting health, safety, independence, and community inclusion. All employees complete comprehensive background screenings and receive extensive training in areas such as CPR/First Aid, medication administration, person-centered practices, human rights, positive behavior support, trauma-informed care, and emergency preparedness. Through ongoing supervision, continuing education, and professional development, we ensure our team is equipped to provide compassionate, person-centered support that empowers individuals to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.
Transportation
Heritage House provides safe, reliable transportation to help individuals access healthcare, employment, education, recreational activities, shopping, faith-based services, and other opportunities that support independence and community involvement. Our fleet of agency-owned vehicles is assigned to residential and day program locations to ensure flexible, person-centered transportation based on each individual’s goals and preferences. All drivers complete comprehensive training and maintain high safety standards, while our vehicles are routinely inspected and maintained to ensure dependable, accessible transportation. Through our transportation program, we promote community inclusion, personal choice, and meaningful participation in everyday life.
